Please can you tell me the range of blades from narrow to wide for Oster A5 clipper?

I already have #10, but I would like slightly longer hair on my Poodle's body

number 10 is for face feet and tail. You need a number 5 for the body coat.
I always advise people to get 3 blades, 10/5/ and 7. The 7 blade is good for a summer body clip.
I never use those snap on combs as I find they invariably snag the coat.
You may be able to buy clipper blades on ebay. I got about 20 used blades last year for £15. I just sent them off for sharpening and they are great.

Blades start at #40, which is surgical-length- bare skin, and shouldn't be used by amateurs (no offense) because it can cut skin easily. Here is the full order from shortest to longest:
40
35
15
10
8.5
7
5
4
3
3/4
5/8

If you keep your dog well brushed, you can buy a #40 and a set of plastic snap-on combs, which can leave as much as 2 inches of long fluffy hair on your poodle. All you do is snap the comb attachment over the #40 blade on your clipper, and then use it just like a blade.

Good luck!

The usual ones are #4, 5, 7, 8 1/2, 9, 10, 15, 30 and 40. The higher the number, the shorter it cuts.

They do come in longer lengths (like #3 3/4), but I prefer to use a clipper comb over a #40 blade for those lengths. But the coat must be thoroughly cleaned and brushed/combed before using a clipper comb.

A 10 blade is short for the body. Use a 7F or 5F for a little longer length. I'm a groomer. I don't usually put a 10 on the body unless its matted. You can use a 10 or 15 for the face, feet and tail. If you still prefer a longer length, use snap on combs. A #1 comb with a 30 blade under it leave a nice fluff on the body. Hope this helps.

Size of Clipper Blade for Miniature Horses?

I need to body clip my little girls mini for a show. We don't know much about showing. I just picked up some Oster A5 clippers at a yard sale but I need some blades as the one that came with it won't cut hardly at all. What size blades should I get? Do they have to be Oster brand? Should I get the wide blade or regular? Do I need more than one blade? Thanks!
What I really need to know is the size of blades to use like #30 or #10 or #7 etc...

you need to find blades that mach the clippers you have (not all blades will fit all clippers) the wide or regular blade is your choice and you should probably get #10 or #12 blades as this is normal for most body clipping also the reason the clippers will not cut might because the clippers are worn out and you will haft to buy a whole new set or the tension on the blades could be set wrong.

Regular blade is good, I'd get two in case you are clipping for a long time and need to switch blades so that you aren't using one that is extremely hot because they heat up with use. And i'd say they have to be oster brand but im not 100% sure.

Take your blades and have them sharpened or buy new ones . You'll need to use the size that will get the job done, and then it'll depend on how much you want to take off since i'm not familiar with Oster because we use Wahl i don't know the size of there blades.

You won't need a wide blade, a regular width will be fine, but you will need blade wash, and obviously clipper oil. And unless you are planning on dropping your clipper several times one blade will work perfectly. I body clip horses and I uses the same blade for 30 full size horse and it works fine. The blade/clipper gets really hot though so blade wash/coolant is a necessity. And about the brand I would recommend getting oster brand blades because they are nice and will probably be th most efficient with that clipper but if you can find one that fit your clipper that is a different brand that will work fine!

Hope this Helps!!

a size 10 blade is the standard size for a full body clip... anything smaller is better to use on the face. If the blades won't cut and you'll need them in the future I would suggest getting them sharpened
