I usually shave my head with clippers but the ones I used to use are broken.I have a beard trimmer with the clipper type attachments and was wondering if I could use that instead. At the moment my hair is about a half inch long.I can't afford to go out and get new clippers right now.
i can see no problem with using beard trimmers instead of normal clippers.the job at hand will take longer due to the cutting blade being less wide.as long as your trimmers cut evenly should be ok,the hair on your head is just an extention of your beard.

you might be able to but I tried a couple years back and the beared trimmer didn't have enough power so I wrecked it.

I'd like to keep a 5 o'clock shadow. Anyone know of a particular shaver/trimmer that cuts that short?

I like the scruffy look and currently have a beard trimmer but the attachment doesn't allow me to cut as short as I'd like to give me the look I'm after. Any brand name and model suggestions would be much appreciated.
just use clippers designed for hair on the bare blade

How do I fade my beard with the rest of my hair?
Jul 27, 2007 by radioplug14 | Posted in Men's Health
I just bought a facial hair trimmer. I read how it work and everything but one question eludes me. How does one fade his longer hair into a shorter beard? The trimmer I used has a variety of attachments including 6-position guide. I'm wondering if there is something specific I have to do before I try it on myself.
Thanks!
The question is not the length of my beard but how to fade longer hair (on the sides and top of my head) to a shorter length beard (around length of stubble)
if beard is too long the trimmer doesn't work. if this happen you need a shear and cut beard to shorter. so you can use your trimmer.

How does waxing an eyebrow do the same job as trimming?
Nov 07, 2008 by Sadf A | Posted in Hair
I hear people say to wax instead of trim, but how does waxing make hairs less long? I have thick eyebrows and I don't see how waxing could shorten them, unless they removed every eyebrow hair. I use a beard trimmer with an eyebrow guard attachment and that works, but why would waxing be better?
waxing is a way of removing all of the selected hairs at once. the pros are that the hair takes longer to grow back, and it is quicker to rid oneself of unwanted hair in this manner. also, many say the hair will eventually stop growing in that area. the cons of this are that many people can develop an allergy to the wax, the wax may not be properly kept clean and infections could develop, the hair grows back stubbly, the hair must be a certain length before it can effectively be removed, it has been described as painful by many and uncomfortable by most, it is more costly than trimming, and the pulling action can damage the elasticity of the skin, causing wrinkles later on in life.
If your eyebrows are too long, or thick (my husband has the same issue) do this.... get an eyebrow comb (you can find them at the drugstore) and a tiny pair of sissors. comb through the eyebrow and trim the exess hair. or, you can use this little trimmer. it even has an attachement for thinning out eyebrows. it's very cheap, and can be found in many locations. i got ours at bed bath and beyond. this method does not pluck, it cuts. its pain free and easy to use.
