Can clipper attachment combs replace blade sizes #3 to #8 or able to achieve similar effects?

I am new to pet grooming and was confuse between attachment comb and blade sizes. Is a #6(1/4) attachment comb fitted on a #40 blade the same as blade size #5 since both will achieve the same length? Please advice. Thanks.

the rule of thumb is the higher the blade number the shorter the cut so if your going to shave a dog then just use the 5F blade when using the comb attachment you have to do more hand scissoring.. I will use a 10 15 30 or a 40 under the comb attachment depending how short I want a dog to be..Sat I did a terrier poo they did not want him buzzed so I use a 10 under a 1/2 comb attachment he looked so cute.. because he has poodle hair..

Hi, Does anyone know the longest hair comb attachment or grade you can get on a clipper? The longest one I can find is a Vidal Sassoon clipper with the longest being 42mm. Thanx.

I think it is a 6 but the clippers we have at home the highest is a 4

If I buzz my hair with the no clipper attachment, how long will it take before it gets back to #1 length?

I've been buzzing my hair down to a #1 lately and was thinking about taking off the #1 and doing the bare blade. How long will it take for it to look like a #1 again? Also, if I completely shave it with a razor, how long will it take to look like a #1? I'm kind of nervous about doing either one.

Average hair grows about 0.3 mm a day. No1 is 3mm (1/8Th)
so starting from razor shave it should take 10 days, and starting from bare blade which leaves about 0.5mm it should take about 8 days. You should not be nervous about that because between a No 1 and a razor shave it doesn't make much of a difference on your appearance.
